EMMANUEL FACULTY BIO

Dr. Teresa Welch joined the faculty as Assistant Professor of Christian Education and Director of Institutional Research after serving for fifteen years as a children’s minister with additional service as a worship minister, church administrator, and women’s minister. Her passion
is to help educate people of every age to know God, so that they might be formed into the likeness of Christ. In her Convocation Address “Children, Baptism and the Null Curriculum,” Teresa shared her desire to continue research in the area of children’s development toward
developing a practical theology of childhood.
Teresa is a graduate of Ozark Christian College (BCE), Malone University (MACM), Lincoln Christian University (MDiv) and Emmanuel Christian Seminary (DMin). Though she has had many mentors from the institutions where she studied, Teresa acknowledges that her biblical education
began first in the home and then during her childhood at the First Christian Church in Monmouth, Illinois and is grateful to women like Margaret “Shorty” Allen and the late Wanda Grabowski who helped her fall in love with Jesus. Teresa has a deep respect for those who serve in
the local church and is extremely grateful for the churches in Ohio and Illinois where she worshiped and served.
Dr. Welch also serves as an adjunct professor at Ozark Christian College, Milligan College and TCM International Institute. Additionally, she serves as a volunteer in the children’s ministry and adult education ministry at First Christian Church, Johnson City. She is humbled to
be following in the footsteps of her mentor, Dr. Eleanor Daniel and is excited to bring her experiences to the classroom as she assists students in designing educational models for future areas of ministry.
Dr. Welch maintains a
blog called “Such as These” which features her “Learning to Follow Christ” curriculum that is created for use with older elementary children. This curriculum is available for free download from her blog.
